The Austrian marque had previously announced a race-ready version of its Twin-powered superbike, dubbed the 1190 RC8R Track, at the earlier INTERMOT show in Cologne. For Milan, the Orange and Black announces changes to the base RC8R with horsepower up to a claimed 175.
The structural architecture of the 1195cc 75-degree Twin is unchanged, including the 105mm bore and 69mm stroke. Internal modifications to the four-valve heads feature a “newly developed dual-plug ignition.” Other changes includes a new crankshaft spinning in the crankcase. The mods add up to an impressive 10 horsepower leap over the previous generation RC8R, with 175 horsepower and 93.7 lb-ft of torque (previous version claimed 165 horsepower and 90.7 lb-ft torque).
The chassis features “a completely new suspension and damping set-up” for the suspension. A revision to the rear shock linkage is also touted, along with a wider array of suspension adjustment settings. Other tweaks include a new gear shift linkage and LED running lights.

Ducati open their EICMA 2010 week in pure Italian style with the first public unveiling of the DUCATI Diavel and the brand new Monster 1100EVO. The unveiling of these two models in Milan launches the Italian manufacturer’s proud exhibition of new models at EICMA’s 68th Milan International Motorcycle Show held at the Fiera Rho from 4-7 November.

Before the unveiling and detailing of Ducati’s new models, Gabriele Del Torchio, President of Ducati Motor Holding, took the opportunity to announce positive commercial results with further confirmation of the Italian manufacturer’s stable footing during a difficult period for the industry:
“2010 has been a year of great opportunity for Ducati and despite the difficult market environment, we have seen our market share double in the last three years, from 4.3% to 8.6%. By the end of 2010 we expect a sales growth of 6% compared to last year, a growth that is testimony to Ducati’s capacity to react, even during a contraction in the market. Essentially, we owe this to the creation of specific strategies within our 2007-2010 industrial plan. We continue to base the pillars of our strategy on loyalty to our mission: To be specialists and segment leaders in the sport bike sector, while working with determination on the development of highly innovative new products. Honda claims that this new Mid- Concept will offer the energetic riding sensation of a motorcycle but with the ease and convenience of a scooter. The latest engine technology along with the advanced Dual Clutch Transmission system will also be seen on the new Mid- Concept; with Honda now looking forward to extend the DCT technology to more range of motorcycles this coming year. The foot-forward position on the Mid- Concept has been adapted to provide comfort for the rider and offer additional protection from weather. The newly designed 17 inch wheels with PRO-LINK rear suspension add to the motorcycle look and enhance high speed stability and maneuverability with the optimum size radial tyres giving a sporty ride. The front fairing air vents coupled with the larger wheels will deliver greater stability when riding at higher speeds.
